Google's Pixel 11 Lands: A 2nm Brain, a Foldable, and a Bigger Price Tag

For British buyers that timing matters, since a late August release means the Pixel 11 arrives well ahead of the Christmas rush and squarely in the path of Apple's own autumn iPhone launch, setting up a very direct clash.

What Is Actually New Inside

The headline upgrade sits out of sight, as the Pixel 11 runs on the new Tensor G6 chip built on a 2 nanometre process, a step that should bring meaningful gains in both raw performance and the on device artificial intelligence Google loves to showcase.

Charging gets a welcome modern touch too, because the whole range adopts Qi2.2 magnetic charging at speeds of up to 25 watts, finally bringing proper magnetic accessories and noticeably faster wireless top ups to the Pixel family.

The foldable deserves special attention, as the Pixel 11 Pro Fold pushes Google deeper into a category that is slowly maturing, aiming to prove that a folding phone can be a genuine daily driver rather than an expensive novelty.

The Price Question

All of this ambition comes at a cost, because the Pixel 11 range now starts at 879 pounds, a noticeable jump from the 799 pound starting price of the Pixel 10 generation that came only a year before it.

That increase reflects a wider industry trend, as premium components, advanced chips and folding displays keep pushing flagship prices higher, leaving buyers to decide how much cutting edge hardware is really worth to them.

For most people the sensible question is not whether the Pixel 11 is impressive, because it clearly is, but whether the upgrades justify the extra outlay over a perfectly capable phone bought only a year or two ago.

My take is that Google has built a genuinely strong lineup, yet the rising price tag turns the Pixel 11 from an easy recommendation into a considered purchase, one worth weighing carefully against whatever you already own.
